Parenting for Greatness Part 4: How Psychvancing Creates Great Athletes

Updated: Mar 28

To be great, an athlete MUST BE what I call 'complete' and by complete, I mean that player has optimized 3 areas of their game:

  • Their Minds

  • Their Feelings

  • Their Behaviours

Your child can NEVER reach their potential without optimizing all three! This is because these areas are interconnected so, if one is weak, they will all be weakened!

The 'missing link' to greatness for your child is strengthening weaknesses mentally and physically and at Psychvancing, we specifically help with the mental side (which is both the mind and feelings).

Although the work is never really done (because athletes can always improve no matter how good they are), most athletes do work on their physical (speed, strength, etc.) and technical skills (shooting, passing, etc.) enough to, at least, survive at the level of competition they are at. BUT, they neglect the mental performance training because they lack the acknowledgement of its' relevance in sports and/or a sufficient understanding of it!

As a parent, you have a much better grasp of mental skills necessary for success through life experience or formal/informal lesson. But, you probably lack the time it would take to first properly learn the mental concepts I've discussed to, then secondly, be able to teach your child those concepts in a meaningful way.

Mental training is required to become a 'complete' athlete, and in my 'Complete' Athlete Level-1 online course, I help athletes perform under pressure, enjoy playing competitively and play with maximum effort and focus to achieve success!

My course is the combination of my basketball experience and the help and knowledge of my mental health consultant, Gillian Wells.

  • I have 20 years of experience playing competitively from the amateur to the professional level

  • While Gillian who worked with many elite athletes, has over 20 years of experience under her belt!

I thank you for reading this series and I hope we, here at Psychvancing, can get the opportunity to help your son or daughter become great!
